Commonly Asked Questions about Therapy

What is therapy?

Psychotherapy, or therapy, involves treating mental health concerns and behavioral problems through communication, relationship factors, and skill-building by a qualified mental health professional.

What is a therapist?

Therapists are licensed mental health professionals who specialize in helping clients develop better cognitive and emotional skills, reduce symptoms of mental illness, and cope with various life challenges to improve their lives.

How does therapy work?

The goal of therapy is to help improve symptoms of many mental health conditions. In therapy, people will learn how to cope with symptoms, establish coping skills and attend therapy sessions base on their needs.

What is telehealth therapy?

Tele-health is a form of video conferencing allowing therapists to provide services to patients outside of the office, for example, at the patient’s home or workplace. Telehealth therapy at Lane and Contributors is delivered through a HIPPA compliant two-way communication, live and interactive video combined with audio.

Is telehealth safe and secure?

Lane and Contributors use the simple practice platform, which is HIPPA compliant, to ensure the privacy and safety of your personal information.

What can I expect from my first therapy session?

We will take the first session to assess your unique situation and specific reasons for seeking counseling or other services. You and I will determine if my areas of expertise are the right fit for you. If so, we can discuss what treatment or services will look like for you. If we feel that Lane and Contributors cannot provide you with the highest level of care, we will provide you with appropriate referrals to meet your specific needs.

Do you take insurance?

At this time, we are not accepting insurance but are currently being credentialed with BCBS, Cigna, and Aetna in Texas. We are self-pay only in Oklahoma. We can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance with possible reimbursement. Please contact your insurance for more information about reimbursement.
